ALL THAT DAVID COPPERFIELD KIND OF CRAP
When Salinger says "All that David Copperfield kind of crap." he is referring to the large amount of precise details that Dickens is subjected to give about the completeness of all of his characters life. Dickins travels all the way back to times even previous to when his characters were brought on to this world and provide an extremely detailed summary of how the characters' parents merged together and their reasoning behind having kids of their own. When Salinger says "All that David Copperfield kind of crap.", he is trying to portray his character as a somewhat nonemotional, unloving individual who is more intrigued by the present than the reasoning and history of what has came to be in life.
